Okay, I have a thing for elves. But Thranduil has been one of my favorite characters in all of Tolkien lore (and yes, I’ve read basically everything there is to read), ever since I picked up The Hobbit for the first time in third grade. He’s Legolas’ wine-loving, party-loving, cranky, kingly dad who is determined to get his hands on anything shiny (hint: Arkenstone). Why? Because he doesn’t have nearly as much treasure as the other elves and he is JEALOUS. Definitely one of the most intriguing immortals by far.

Best ten seconds of the movie. Can’t wait to see him get all pissed because, well…

“YOU INTERRUPTED MY PEOPLE’S MERRYMAKING THREE TIMES. THREE TIIIIIMES!!!”

If there’s one thing Thranduil hates, it’s a party-crasher. I have so much love for this character just from the book, and I can’t wait to see his shenanigans unfold onscreen.
